Camera-Werk Merkel Tharandt, was founded as camera repair shop in 1900 in Tharandt near Dresden. In 1931 the camera maker developed the twin lens reflex camera Reflecta. In 1932, before the TLR's production start, the company became Kamera-Werk C. Richter Tharandt.
