The SER is Kowa's interchangeable-lens counterpart to the SE. Both use an external CdS cell for light metering.
Because Kowa's SE series were all behind-the-lens leaf shutter SLRs, they require a proprietary bayonet mount (where the aperture ring remains a part of the camera body). Nonetheless each lens's aperture setting is coupled to the meter and shown in the viewfinder. The SER came equipped with a 50mm f/2.0 standard lens, and at the time additional 35mm through 200mm lenses were offered. The user must match a viewfinder needle with a bracket by adjusting either shutter or aperture settings to suit the scene's light levels.
