Ernemann telescopic-folding plate camera
Ernemann may have made a camera for 10x13 cm plates, with a highly-unusual folding mechanism: only one example of the camera is known to exist, offered for sale at Westlicht in 2014.[1] It has an f/6.8 Ernemann Detectiv Aplanat and an Ernemann shutter with speeds 1/2-1/100 second, plus 'B' and 'T'. The body of the camera is not marked, however, and may not be by Ernemann.
In place of bellows, the camera is constructed from a set of nested brass frames mounted in an outer wooden frame. The brass frames slide into one another when the body is folded, so that it is little thicker than any one of the frames. The lens and shutter unit is detachable. When unfolded, the stepped-pyramid form of the camera is held out by a leaf spring on each side. The camera has no viewfinder.
