History

Welta was a German maker based in Freital near Dresden. It produced a number of medium-range folders before World War II, and was quite comparable to Balda and Certo. It also introduced two folding TLRs, the 6x6 Perfekta and the 6x9 Superfekta, which did not sell too well.

After the war, Welta continued production as a state company, with a range derived from the prewar models. At some time it absorbed Belca (the former Balda), and later it was merged in the VEB Pentacon conglomerate.
