::Sounds good, I like that idea. So we'd have an "argus serial number page" and we could link to it from this master serial number page as well as from the argus page. That could be very useful.

You probably know about Schneider serial numbers... but, the reason for Kodak's weird 13-month year is that George Eastman was a fan of crackpot calendar reform--Vox 22:39, 22 February 2011 (PST)

Ross, Schneider has already been coded as a table.., will put in, in a sec...--Heritagefutures 22:53, 22 February 2011 (PST)
What about a general article about serial numbers with links to further pages: "Serial numbers, ..." "... Japanese lenses" "... Japanese cameras" "... German cameras" "... U.S.-American cameras" "... Kodak"? Otherwise the article soon grows longer than Problem photos ;-) U. Kulick 01:40, 23 February 2011 (PST)
Good point, Uwe, but I would suggest let's cross that bridge when we get there...there are not that many serial number compilations out there... but if we get another half dozen, we may want to split off and have a main article as you suggest...--Heritagefutures 02:28, 23 February 2011 (PST)
Hadn't you figured out a neat trick for collapsing text boxes? It could just be a list of categories and brands, clickable to expand the particular one a reader cared about.--Vox 12:17, 23 February 2011 (PST)
The collapsible boxes (dropimage) don't work in this wiki? rebollo_fr had done the coding in the old camerapedia. Maybe Steve can help out?--Heritagefutures 12:35, 23 February 2011 (PST)

Hm, looking at this demo in Firefox 3.6, collapsing seemed to work correctly for me... --Vox 12:57, 23 February 2011 (PST)
But it's not working in Safari (but once was)--Heritagefutures 13:06, 23 February 2011 (PST)
Works for me (Firefox 3.6.13 on Redhat Fedora GNU/Linux). It's possible we've got an old version of the template. As best I can tell, it may have originated from Wikipedia's dropimage template, which is available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Dropimage
is working for me too... was stumped by the fact that the 'Press Me' was not indicated as a hyperlink...--Heritagefutures 15:08, 23 February 2011 (PST)

Serial numbers here vs on Manufacturer pages

Wow, cool, I love the idea of having serial number info in Camera-wiki! :)

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a serial number section on each manufacturers page? I would think this page is going to get way too big over time, especially if we add something like the Argus serial number data that's available.
