The faceplate and shutter assembly of this camera are clearly related to the [[Monarck]] cluster of brands (711 W. Lake Street). But Bernard Products wasn't just one of the "phantom" nameplates from Chicago. I have seen several ads and mentions of Bernard in post-WWII ''Popular Photography'' issues: One ad for their Faultess brand of tripod pan-head is on pg. 146 of the November 1946 issue (Vol. 19, No. 5) and gives a company address as 328 W. Ohio St., Chicago.
