Tōyō Kōki Seizō

It is said that Tōyō Kōki K.K. (東洋光機㈱) was the maker of the Peacock 3×4cm cameras.[1]
It seems that it is the same company that is called Tōyō Kōki Seizō K.K. (東洋光機製造㈱) in the "Kokusan shashinki no genjōchōsa" ("Inquiry into Japanese cameras"). It was based in Tokyo, Yodobashi in 1943.[2]
It seems that Tōyō Kōki was merged into Oriental Shashin Kōgyō (a Japanese film maker) in 1944, becoming its optical instruments branch (光機部門), that was dissolved in 1945.[3] The two companies were perhaps already related at an earlier date, as indicated by the common use of the Peacock trademark.

Notes
- ↑ Kokusan kamera no rekishi, p. 339. Sugiyama, items 3044 and 4060, calls the company "Toyo Optical Works", a translation attempt. McKeown says that the maker was "Toyo Kogaku", probably mistakenly translating back the name given in Sugiyama.
