It is said that Tōyō Kōki K.K. (東洋光機株式会社) was the maker of the Peacock 3×4cm cameras.[1] It seems that this company was merged into Oriental Shashin Kōgyō, a Japanese film maker, becoming its optical instruments branch (光機部門).[2] The two companies were perhaps already related at an earlier date, as indicated by the common use of the Peacock trademark.

Notes

  1. Kokusan kamera no rekishi, p. 339. Sugiyama, items 3044 and 4060, calls the company "Toyo Optical Works", a translation attempt. McKeown says that the maker was "Toyo Kogaku", probably mistakenly translating back the name given in Sugiyama.
  2. See this page at Kan's Room. Kokusan kamera no rekishi, p. 339, also says that the two companies are related.
