Sony DSC-F828 Cyber-shot was announced in 2003. It is based on the previous years DSC-F717, but with new optics by Carl Zeiss. It is a Vario-Sonnar Carl Zeiss T*. It incorporates a four-color filter CCD technology.

The camera features a 8 megapixel 2/3" CCD image sensor, with an F2.0 - F2.8 (7x), 28 - 200 mm equiv. optical zoom lens. The screen is a 1.8" 134,000 pixel TFT LCD and is provided along with an EVF. A pop-up flash is also provided.

Images can be stored onto CompactFlash media, as well as a Microdrive hard disk drive or Memory Stick PRO media.
