Bernhard Sommer was a manufacturer of focal-plane shutters in Dresden.[1] The firm made some cameras:

  • Sport R.1 press camera 6.5x9cm (perhaps other sizes) strut-folding press camera with 11.3cm f/4.5 Meyer Satz-Plasmat.[1][2]
  • Night Camera, about 1930 (so described by Westlicht: quite probably not the name Sommer gave the camera): a copy of the Ermanox combining Sommer's shutter (speeds 1/25 - 1/1000 second) with a 9cm f/1.5 Plasmat, with helical focusing on a rigid lens-tube, and a Newton finder, as in the Ermanox.[3]
