The Vought-Solar Aircraft Torpedo Camera Type 1 was produced between 1943 and (early?) 1944 by Russell Vought Co, a division of Solar Aircraft Co , San Diego, CA, USA.<ref>USN Order nº N288S-11790</ref> The camera was a motorised panoramic camera,<ref>Commonly a 24 Volt Model, but a 12 V model also exists</ref>  to document aerial torpedo attacks (from launch to impact), was fitted with a louvre shutter and shot 7-inch wide negatives in 120 -type film
