The Slick[1] is a Japanese camera taking 3×4cm exposures on 127 film. It is only known from an entry in Sugiyama. It is said that it was made around 1943 by Tōa Kōki.[2]

Description of the body

The Slick seems to have a bakelite body. There is a telescopic tube supporting the lens and shutter assembly.

The advance knob is at the left end of the top plate and there is a smaller knob on the right. The tubular finder is in the middle.

The back is hinged to the right.

Lens and shutter equipment

The only known example of the Slick has a 50mm f/6.3 lens simply marked SLICK and an everset shutter giving B, 25, 50, 100 speeds, selected by turning the rim. The aperture is selected by an index at the bottom. The shutter plate is marked Slick at the top and Sugiyama at the bottom, with an S logo in a circle on the right.

Notes

  1. "Slick" is the name that is written on the shutter plate. It is not certain that it is the same of the camera itself.
  2. Sugiyama, item 4069. It is not known on which basis this attribution is made.
