The Rolleiflex SL 66 was Rollei's first single-lens reflex roll film camera. It was a modular system with interchangeable finders and film magazines. A unique feature was a bellows lens extension permitting the lens to be tilted for focus or perspective control. While the name "66" likely refers to the 6x6 cm image format, coincidentally the camera was introduced at the 1966 Photokina show. The original chrome & black SL66 model remained in production until 1986.
The SL accepted a series of Carl Zeiss lenses of very high reputation.
