The Caplio GX100 was introduced by Ricoh in 2007, following its elder brother, the GR Digital. Its ability to accept an accessory electronic viewfinder in its hot shoe was an idea later adopted by many compact system cameras.
This compact camera is equipped with :
- a 10 megapixel sensor
- a 3x zoom 24-72mm (35mm equivalent)
- an image stabilizer
- scene exposure modes, and an aperture priority mode
It also can be powered by standard AAA batteries, and save pictures in Adobe DNG raw format.
The Caplio GX100 won the "Best Prestige Camera in Europe" at TIPA Awards 2007. (Press Release (pdf))
The Caplio GX100 won the "iF gold award" at iF product design award 2008. (Press Release (pdf))
