Revision as of 15:01, 10 May 2014

The Lumix GF3 is a Micro Four Thirds based digital system camera introduced in 2011 by Panasonic. It is the successor of the Panasonic Lumix GF2.

It is sold in most regions as a body, body with a 14mm lens and body with 14-42mm zoom lens. The design is smaller and lighter than the GF2. There is no accessory shoe for external flash systems and no optional viewfinder accessory. The camera offers a 12 megapixel sensor, a 3 inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 460,000 dots. The touch screen along with the 4-way cursor, which also contains a rotating dial is used to change settings of the camera. The GF3 body does not have a exposure mode dial. Standard exposure modes such as P, S, A and M modes along with scene modes are accessed via the LCD screen. A pop-up flash is also provided.

The GF3 can record HD video at 1920 x 1080 and uses the AVCHD format. It uses a monaural microphone unlike the previous models. It do not have external mic support. Interfaces include USB 2.0, composite video out and mini HDMI. SD / SDHC or SDXC cards are used as removable storage.

In 2012, the replacement Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5 was announced.
