Officine Galileo was founded in 1862.

It delivered periscopes and rangefinders for the naval forces of Italy. In the 1950 the company became famous for its unique 16mm subminiature camera GaMi 16, one of the super mini cameras with the most features and the most available accessories. The company started camera making already in the 1940s, beginning with the Leica III copy Condor I made for Ferrania, followed by the Condor Junior which was marketed in Australia.
