The Nikon D2H and D2X, were released in 2003 as the top-of-the-line DSLR cameras in the Nikon range. The D2H replaced the D1H while the D2X replaces the D1X. The D2H was replaced respectively in 2005 by the D2Hs and the D2X by the D2Xs in 2006.
The D2H features a LBCAST 4.1MP sensor which shoots at up to 8 FPS with a buffer of 40 shots. The D2X features a 12.4MP sensor which shoots at up to 5 FPS and has a high speed crop mode enabling shooting at 8 FPS on 7MP.
The D2Hs is the same body as the D2H with upgraded electronics inside.
The D2Xs is the same body as the D2X with an LCD overlay for the high speed crop mode and an LCD that's visible at wider angles, as well as some upgrades in firmware. All other D2Xs features can be added to a D2X by updating the firmware to version 2.0.
A camera for pros only, with a hefty price tag of $5000+ in 2003 dollars. As of 2011, D2H bodies are running about $400-$500, and D2X bodies can be had for as low as $800 in good working order.
