The Coolpix 300 is an early digital camera from Nikon released in 1997. It is one of the first batch of Coolpix branded cameras.
Images are captured on a CCD based sensor with 330,000 pixels, with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels in JPEG format. The lens is a 6.2mm (45mm lens 35mm equivalent) fixed focus lens with a range of 65cm to inf in normal mode and 14 to 23 cm in macro mode. There is 4MB of flash memory available. A built-in flash is provided with a GN of 9 and has auto, off, on and red eye reduction modes. It uses a optical viewfinder for composing. It has two frame lines, one for standard the other for macro mode. Also included is a touch sensitive 2.5" colour display can also be used for image composition. The camera uses a pen stylus based user interface. There is a built in microphone for recording voice notes and a small speaker is used for audio playback. Audio can also be added to the photos. Computer connectivity is possible with adapters for RS232/RS422 (PC, 9pin) or (Mac, DIN 8) serial ports and SCSI. Television connectivity is also possible with a AV adapter. Power is from 4x AA batteries.
