The New Gold is a Japanese 4.5×6 folding camera, sold and perhaps made by Gold Camera Kōgyō-sho in 1944.[1] It is an Ikonta copy, with a folding optical finder and a body release. It was advertised in the May 1944 issue of Nihon Shashin[2] and in the June 21, 1944 issue of Asahi Graph.[3] Two variants were listed, both with a T, B, 5–200 shutter:

  • f/4.5 lens (¥85 — case ¥11.50 extra);
  • f/3.5 lens (¥125).

It seems that the camera was sold by mail order, as were other products sold by Gold Camera Kōgyō-sho: in the advertisements the sum of ¥0.50 is written together with the logo of the Japan Post, probably to indicate the shipping fees.
