The Nachtreflex (Night Reflex) is an SLR camera for 4.5x6cm plates, made by Ihagee. It was made to exploit the low-light capability of the very fast f/1.5 Plasmat
lens designed by Paul Rudolph for Meyer. Only two examples of the camera are known to exist.[1][2] It is wooden-bodied, with black leather covering. The body of the camera is roughly cubic, and the flange of the lens neatly fills the front face. The lens has helical focusing, not rack-and-pinion as on common reflexes of the time. It has a top focusing screen in a folding hood. There is a simple wire frame-finder mounted on the hood. In principle, the camera can be used as a view camera, with a rear screen (and one is fitted to the example cited at the 36th Leitz Auction), but it was intended to be used hand-held.
