The Automex was a 35mm SLR introduced by Miranda in 1959. This was the company's first model offering a built-in selenium meter, coupled internally to the camera's shutter speed setting; and to the selected f/stop via an external arm on each lens's aperture ring . The meter cell covers the front of the camera's removable pentaprism making this the most distinctive-looking Miranda model.
The Automex II (engraved as such on the front panel) was a small revision introduced in 1963, which expanded the meter's range of top film speed settings from 400 to 1600.
In 1965 the Automex II was replaced by the Miranda Automex III, marking the change to a CdS-cell meter.
