The Minolta XE-5 was introduced in 1976 as an export model and thus not available in Japan. It was a less expensive version of the XE, it lacked the multi exposure lever, the eye piece shutter and the aperture display in the view finder. It was available in chrome only and had a sister model in Japan, the XEb.
