Gibellini Camera is a camera maker in Modena, Italy. The company was founded by Alessandro Gibellini, before he graduated from engineering college. It makes a range of 4x5 and 8*10-inch cameras. Cameras are separated into a low-cost 'educational' range and a 'professional' range. The cameras make extensive use of carbon fibre and polymers to reduce weight, and they are designed with style as well as function in mind. Many details like colour of bellows and knobs are selectable by the customer.

Many of the field cameras share this common basic design. Focusing is by a knob at the rear, below the ground glass, which turns a worm gear connected to a low plinth at the front on which the front standard sits. The plinth slides on two thin tubular aluminium rails running front-to-rear as the worm gear is turned. There are two slots running front-to-rear in the plinth, and a slot running across the bottom member of the standard. The standard is fastened to the plinth by two locking knobs. Slackening these allows swing and/or shift to be manually set.

Cameras

4x-inch

  • Proxima 45V2: Entry-level folding field camera made from elements 3-D-printed in Poly-Lactic Acid (PLA) in black or white, with aluminium rails.
  • Black Swan: Entry-level folding field camera, similar to the Proxima, but with elements moulded in nylon. As of spring 2024, this camera is offered by some dealers, but no longer appears at Gibellingi's own web-shop.
  • ACN4: Professional folding field camera made from aluminium and carbon-fibre elements.
  • TCN4: Professional folding field camera made from aluminium, carbon fibre and 'technopolymer' elements.

8x10-inch

  • Bellatrix: Entry-level 8x10-inch equivalent of the Proxima, made from some PLA elements, with aluminium base, side-braces and focusing parts for the larger size.
  • AG810: The cheapest and simplest professional 8x10-inch camera, with all main parts in aluminium. Nevertheless, there are six choices of colour for the aluminium parts, for bellows and for knobs.
  • GP810V2: The 'flagship' model. A monorail camera of sorts, made mainly from aluminium. Focusing is racking the rear standard, using a central focus screw as with the field cameras. The rail is an unusual wide shape with curved top and bottom surfaces.
  • GP810TiV2: A version of the GP810 with aluminium, carbon fibre and titanium elements.

As of spring 2024, the price of the Bellatrix is roughly 1200-1400 Euro; the AG810 costs 3750-4500 Euro, the GP810V2 costs 6000-7000 Euro, and the GP810TiV2 18000-19000 Euro!
