Gakken is a Japanese publisher that also produces educational toys. Besides books, their most well know product is the Gakken electronics kits, that uses blocks similar to kids building blocks, but with electronic components such a resistors, wires and IC. Gakken started publishing a few build it yourself kits that things such as cameras, radio, phonograph, tube amps, music synthesizer, and a 4-bit computer.
