Emil Wünsche's Detectiv-Camera "Photo-Jumelle" is a folding variant of the popular photo-jumelle concept; a camera with a housing shaped somewhat like a pair of binoculars, made at some time in Wünsche's short period as an independent camera-maker (1896 - 1909). Wünsche's camera is a 9x12cm folding plate camera. The body is deliberately styled like the leather case of a pair of field glasses.
The camera has an Extrarapid-Aplanat lens with fixed aperture and a shutter with selectable speeds. It has a reflex viewfinder which can be rotated for horizontal or vertical orientation.
A very similar camera was made in Paris by Frank-Valéry at about the same time.[1]
