The Ellison Kamra Company of Los Angeles was started by Michael Ellison and Edward McAuliffe, to exploit their patent for a camera shutter mechanism. The company made just one camera, for 35mm film in special cassettes. The body is made from brown bakelite. Opening the folding lens-cover allows the spring-loaded lens (an f/5 Wollensak) to extend. There is a brilliant finder on the cover.

There is a folding crank, which both advances the film (when wound clockwise) and cocks and releases the shutter (when wound in reverse). McKeown states that the crank mechanism is fragile, and broken in most examples seen.[1]

A similar design was made later by the QRS DeVry Corporation of Chicago.
