The Cosina CS-2 is a 35mm SLR introduced by Cosina in 1978,[1] as the autoexposure-only model between the CS-1 and CS-3. It accepts K mount lenses.

It is based around a horizontally-traveling cloth focal plane shutter with speeds electronically timed from 4s to 1/1000 plus B. Unlike many later Cosina models, this limits flash sync speed to 1/60 second. It features an open aperture TTL center-weighted metering system using two silicon photo cells. There are no manually-selectable shutter speeds, aside from the X-sync speed of 1/60th second. However the camera does display the automatically-selected shutter speed using one of 16 LEDs along the viewfinder's left edge; and there is an optional +/- 2 stop exposure-compensation dial. The meter has a range of 2 to 19 EV at (ASA 100), settable to film speeds from 25 to 3200 ASA.

Focusing is done manually, with a horizontal split-image spot and micro-prism collar on the focusing screen. There is an electronic 10 second self-timer, which features a front-facing countdown LED. The rewind release button is tucked alongside the wind lever, rather than on the baseplate of the camera.

Suitable Cosina dedicated flash units mate with a contact in the hot shoe to force the camera to its 1/60th sync speed automatically even when set to "auto." When half-pressing to illuminate one of the normal viewfinder LEDs, this will go dark when the flash is fully charged, acting as a quirky reverse "ready light." A Cosina auto-winder accessory was also available.
