The U4R is a swivel lens digital camera announced by Kyocera in 2004 using the Contax brand.

The magnesium alloy body of the camera is at 102 x 64 x 19 mm. The shape of the camera is more rectangular with the left hand side containing the optics. In the closed position the lens faces upwards. The leather is available in three shades, black, camel and indigo.

It features a 4 megapixel 1/2.7" CCD sensor, that produces a maximum image size of 2272 x 1704 pixels in JPEG. The lens is a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* f/2.8 - f/4.7; 5.8 - 17.4 mm lens which has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 38 - 115 mm. That give it a 3 x zoom. It is able to focus from 60 cm to infinity in normal mode. In macro mode from 20 to 60 cm. There is no optical viewfinder but uses a 130,000 pixel 2" color TFT screen. There are eight scene modes include, Sport, Portrait, Night Portrait, Sunset, Twilight, Night View, B&W and Sepia.

It is compatible with USB2 for computer transfers, SD card for media storage and is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery.
