The Canon T-80 was released in 1985 and one of the companies first attempts at a 35mm auto focus SLR.
It is compatible with manual focus FD and FL mount lenses, as well as three AC auto focus lenses including the AC 50mm f/1.8, AC 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 and AC 75-200mm f/4.5. Auto focus modes include one shot AF and continuous AF modes. The eye-level pentaprism uses a matte field with a split image rangefinder screen. LED indicators are within, including AE program, camera-shake, over/under exposure and flash.
The exposure meter is a full-aperture TTL center-weighted averaging type using a silicon photo cell. Metering range of 1 to 19 EV (ISO 100, f/1.4). Program modes include, Multi-program AE which has deep focus, shallow focus, stop action, and regular program. Exposure compensation is from ±1.5 EV. Film speed range of 12 to 1600 ISO in 1/3 inc.
The electronic vertical-travel, focal-plane shutter has speeds of 2 sec. to 1/1000 sec., B. and flash sync at 1/90 sec. A electronic self-timer is built-in with a 10 sec. delay and audible beep. The film advance is motor driven and capable of up to 0.7 fps. Rewind is also motor driven with a audible beep when completed. It is powered by four AAA battery. A battery check option is also available.
