The Canon Powershot S90 is a digital compact camera released in 2010. It features a 10 mega pixel sensor and a 3" LCD screen. The f/2.0 lens speed (at the wide-angle setting) is one stop faster than typical compacts; and including raw capture too helped Canon position this as a "serious" compact—perhaps as a second camera for DSLR owners. This model was widely seen as a Canon response to the success of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. An innovative feature introduced with the S90 is the control ring around the lens; this is a "soft" control which may be assigned to change different shooting parameters (zoom, ISO, etc.) according to the user's preference. This was retained in its successor the Canon PowerShot S95.
