The PowerShot S5 IS is a digital camera introduced by Canon in 2007. It is the fourth model in the PowerShot S IS series. It is the successor to the Canon PowerShot S3 IS. There is no S4 model number because of the common Asian tetra phobia superstitions.
The camera features 8 mega pixels on a 1/2.5 inch CCD sensor. The screen is a 207,000 pixel 2.5 inch TFT, mounted on a adjustable flip out arm similar to the previous models. The viewfinder is a 115,000 pixel 0.33 inch EVF. The S5 improves upon the S3 model by having a higher ISO sensitivity of 1600 compared to the previous 800 ISO. Unlike the previous models in the series this ones has a hot shoe. Media storage is compatible with SD / SDHC / MMC type flash media. A 32 MB SD card is originally supplied with the camera. It is powered by 4x AA / LR6 batteries.
