On the 1976 Photokina Cambo announced that they would take over the production of the American made Graflex XL. It took however till 1979 before the Cambo XL could actually be delivered, production lasted till 1980 when financial problems did halt it. It is estimated that only a few hundred cameras were made[1].

The Cambo XL was standard delivered with a 6x7/6x9cm roll film cassette, a coupled rangefinder and a Schneider Xenar 3.5/100mm lens in a Copal-0 leaf shutter[1].
