One of countless low-grade cameras given Argus badging image by Dave Buckle (Image rights) |
By the end of the 1990s, the Argus trademark had passed through several hands, and had simply become a way to slap a familiar name on inexpensive products, sourced from the far east. The labeling of these cameras as "focus free" is a clue to their very basic nature—in most cases little more than trashcams. The range of styling eccentricities strongly hints at multiple ODMs working without coordination. A few of the observed model designations are noted below:
- Argus 35 HFM
- Argus 303
- Argus 505
- Argus 520
- Argus 545
- Argus 510EF
- Argus AR2
- Argus C5F
- Argus C510
- Argus C520
- Argus C540
- Argus C580
- Argus C620
- Argus C640
- Argus C650
- Argus FF250
- Argus HFM II
- Argus Twin View II
- Argus Pro Plan (promotional)
NOTE: there are undoubtedly others.
