The Alex is a folding tailboard camera made by Ernemann. McKeown dates the camera to at least 1895.[1] The body of the camera is made from walnut wood. It has green cloth-covered bellows, not tapered, with leather-reinforced corners. The rear standard slides along the folding tailboard to focus. McKeown states that the camera was made in 9x12 cm and 13x18 cm sizes.[1]
A 9x12 example sold at Westlicht has an achromat with an aperture disc and a simple T and I shutter, pneumatically operated.[2]
