The Japanese word Taiyō (太陽) means "sun". It appears in the following names:
- Taiyō Kōki, the maker of the Viscawide-16 panorama camera
- Taiyōdō, the maker of the Beauty series of cameras (Beautyflex, Meteor, Vestkam, Epochs and Beauty 14 etc)
- Taiyo-Anastigmat, a lens brand from the maker T.Y.O.W.
- Tokyo Taiyo, a maker of optical instruments
- Taiyo, a manufacturer of wooden, bellows-type enlargers. The metal tag shows a red and sliver rising sun symbol (pre World War II)[1]
