Yashica followed up on its Lynx 5000 1965 rangefinder camera with the very similar Lynx 5000E as their f/1.8-lensed option in the Lynx lineup. This model added a revised meter circuit, with an over/under display in the viewfinder rather than an analog match needle in the top deck. The front panel noted this as "IC" (for integrated circuit), which was a first in this model and its f/1.4 sister the Lynx 14E.
