Yamato is a Japanese company that was active as a camera maker at least from the end of the 1940s to the beginning of the 1960s. It was founded in 1926 as Kikuchi Seisakusho (菊池製作所) by Kikuchi Rikichi (probable reading of 菊池利吉). It became Yamato Kōki Kōgyō K.K. (大和光機工業株式会社) in 1944. The company still exists and currently makes microtomes (medical research instruments).
