Description
The Vivitar Auto Wide 28mm f/2.5 Bright Band is a lens distributed by Ponder and Best (Vivitar) in the late 1960s. Modern collectors refer to the Vivitar lens family which this lens is a part of as the "Bright Band" family because of the distinctive silver band around the lower part of the lens barrel. Lenses in this family are believed to have been manufactured by Kino Precision. This family of lenses was being sold around the time of P&B standardization of serials numbers. The earliest bright band lenses have serial numbers that do not use the standard system with manufacture prefix codes. The later lenses have 8 digit serial numbers with the Kino Precision 22 prefix code.
