The Vivitar 35mm f/2.8 Auto Wide-Angle lens was marketed by Ponder and Best (later Vivitar) in the 1970s. Based on what's known about Vivitar serial numbers of this era, it's likely the lens was made by Tokina. Dating is speculative, based on the assumption the lens falls into the gap between the Kino-made Dark Band family 35mm f/2.8 ca 1969 and the appearance of the Wolf family 35mm f/2.8 in 1980. There are similar Tokina-made Vivitars with ridged metal focus rings instead of rubber, but with otherwise similar specs and filter sizes that likely preceded this series.[1]
