The Virtus was produced in 1932 by Voigtländer. It is a folding camera for 4.5x6 cm exposures on 120 film. It has the same distinctive styling as the 6x9 cm Prominent and 3x4 cm Perkeo of about the same time. It was available with a Compur or Embezet shutter giving speeds up to 1/250 second, behind a Skopar f/4.5 75mm or Heliar f/3.5 75mm lens. The Virtus was the first camera to have a parallax corrected viewfinder coupled to the lens [1]. Focusing is done with a knob located on the camera body and can be done with the camera open or closed.
Since about 2004, the name Virtus has been used on a series of Voigtländer-branded popular digital cameras made by (or for) Ringfoto.
