Velio is a leaf shutter made by German shutter specialist A C Gauthier.

This shutter has to be cocked first (separate lever) before a release operation is possible.

Typical shutter speeds are 1/10, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100 and 1/200 second. These speeds are rim-set by way of a cam dial.

With this dial set on "B" the shutter stays open as long as the shutter release is operated.

The Velio has a PC-socket for connecting a flash unit. There is however only a partial synchronisation between shutter and flash. When used with a (slower) bulb flash the highest shutter speed is restricted to 1/25 second.
