The Starter is a 35 mm viewfinder camera, made by Lumière in about 1955.[1] The camera body is part metal, and part made of a bakelite plastic. It takes standard 135 film cassettes. The lens is a Lypar 45 mm f/3.5, with an Atoms in-lens shutter giving speeds 1/25 to 1/150 second, plus 'B'. the shutter is synchronised for flash, with a PC socket on the shutter body, and a cold shoe on top of the camera.

The camera has a knob for advancing the film, with a frame counter. There is a tripod bush in the base.
