The '''Sony 300mm F2.8 G''' is a tele lens for the Sony system cameras with [[Minolta]] AF mount. It was developed in 2003 by [[Minolta]] and rebranded as Sony lens in 2006. It is a very fast tele lens with silent "Supersonic Wave" [[autofocus]] motor. It can be focused manually even in autofocus mode when the camera's shutter release button is pressed halfways (DMF=direct manual focusing). Several operation mode switches are on the lens barrel. The lens weighs 2.3 kg. Therefore it has a [[tripod]] thread. The lens has 13 elements and an attachable drop-in filter element. It has a nine-blade aperture which can be stopped down to F32. Minimal image subject distance is 2 metres.
