In about 1961, the European division of Sawyer's (based in Belgium) commissioned this stereo camera, designed to be compatible with the View-Master stereoscope viewer. It was manufactured by King in Germany.[1] The camera went through three minor cosmetic revisions.

While the USA-market View-Master Personal required film to be run through the camera twice, the Stereo Color used an unusual tilted film path which staggered the pairs of images on the film, and thus could expose the roll in a single pass.
