SLT is the abbreviation for Sony's single lens translucent camera concept. It's an alternate DSLR concept with a fixed translucent mirror and an electronic viewfinder instead of optical pentaprism or pentamirror reflex finder. The translucent mirror directs parts of the light onto a set of autofocus sensors, only 70% of the light from the lens goes through the mirror onto the image sensor.
This concept enables on the one hand electronic viewfinders in system cameras for the the Sony α system, on the other hand easier implementation of autofocus bay phase detection.
