Minolta employed a two-letter alphanumeric system to code the make up of its lenses. The first letter sets out the number of lens groups, while the second letter sets out the number of lens elements.[1]
Codes
First Letter:
- T- Tri
- Q - Quatro / Quadr
- P - Penta
- H - Hexa
- S - Septi
- O - Octo
- N - Novem
Second letter:
C=3, D=4, E=5, etc
Examples
ROKKOR-TC = 3 lens elements in 3 lens groups
ROKKOR-TD = 4 lens elements in 3 lens groups
ROKKOR-QD = 4 lens elements in 4 lens groups
ROKKOR-QE = 5 lens elements in 4 lens groups
