The Praktica EE 2 is a 35mm film SLR camera manufactured by Kombinat VEB Pentacon in Dresden from March 1977 to March 1979.
It uses a M42 lens mount with three electronic contacts and was fitted with an electronically controlled vertical travelling metal focal plane shutter with stepless shutter speeds of 1 to 1/1000 of a sec. in automatic mode. In manual mode the following fixed shutter speeds can be selected: 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500 and 1/1000s. The meter uses a CdS sensor with TTL metering. Film speeds can be set from ASA 12 to 1600. It uses a 4.5v PX21 mercury battery which is no longer sold. Three combined LR50 batteries can be used as a rather expensive alternative. Without a battery only the flash synchronised shutter speed of 1/125s is available.
