Hans Porst, founded in 1919 in Nuremberg, Germany, was a German distributor and retailer of many brands of cameras. Porst often had cameras relabeled with their name - Porst - or the acronym Hapo, for Hans Porst. By 1996, the Porst AG chain of retail camera stores was Germany's largest photographic retailer, and in that year was purchased by a Belgian investment group. In 2001, ownership was transferred to Pixelnet, and after a period of insolvency, rights to the brand Photo Porst were sold to the German group Ringfoto.
