The Pentax *ist D is the first production digital camera from Pentax in the SLR configuration. Released in 2003, it was a worthy successor to a long line of Pentax film cameras. It supported all K-mount lenses made, but those made prior to the Pentax-A series —such as Pentax-M lenses, which lack an 'A' mode — were usable only by first metering with the press of a button.
