The Minox 35 AF, released in 1988, was Minox's first departure from its line of ultra-compact 35 mm scale focusing cameras first introduced with the 35 EL in 1974. As the name implies, it was also the first in a series of autofocus cameras bearing the Minox brand.
The body is reminiscent of the Minox 35 line, but thicker and without the folding lens cover. The lens, a 32 mm ƒ/3.5 Minoxar (as opposed to Minox's usual 35 mm ƒ/2.8 Minoxar, is only protected by a UV filter. Above the lens sits the finder between two infrared autofocus sensors, protected by a clear plastic screen. Unlike its contemporaries, the Minox AF lacks motor drive or built-in flash. A dedicated clip-on flash, the AF-F, was sold in kit or as an accessory.
